Aker Offshore Wind has become the newest addition to trade group Offshore Energies UK.
Formed two years ago, Aker Offshore Wind is the windpower arm of Norwegian energy engineering company Aker Solutions.
Headquartered in Aberdeen, it specialises in floating offshore wind technology, utilising Aker’s five decades of offshore energy experience.

Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) was until February known as Oil & Gas UK. It rebranded after deciding to extend its remit to represent those in working in clean energy industries that are increasingly intersecting with oil & gas players, such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, and offshore wind.
OEUK chief executive Deirdre Michie said: “Our industry has a vital role to play in helping to achieve net zero, and in combatting climate change.
“As we move toward a low carbon future, our members will provide the much-needed diversification within the energy mix.”
Aker Offshore Wind’s UK managing director Sian Lloyd-Rees said: “With the UK’s long history in hydro, experience in onshore wind, and advances in marine renewables, our next frontier is the development of floating offshore wind, moving out to deeper waters and stronger, more consistent winds.
