Iberdrola has started work on the 13.5MW Conde photovoltaic plant located in Palmela, Portugal.

The plant, with a total surface area of almost 20 hectares, will produce 20 GWh/year and avoid approximately 6,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

This is one of the four photovoltaic plants that Iberdrola is developing in the Setúbal district with a total capacity of 86MW.

The plants include; Algeruz II (27.35MW), Conde (13.51MW), Alcochete I (32.89MW) and Alcochete II (12.72MW).

The foundation stone of the Conde plant was laid by Renata Rodrigues, on behalf of Iberdrola Renewables Portugal, and Álvaro Manuel Balseiro Amaro, Mayor of Palmela, symbolising their joint commitment to the development of renewables.

In Portugal, Iberdrola operates a portfolio that includes 92MW of wind power, as well as the commissioning of the 1,158MW Támega pumped-storage project.

The Támega complex will be capable of producing 1,766 GWh per year and will have sufficient storage capacity to serve two million Portuguese households for an entire day.
